Welcome To The Connecticut Psychiatric Society's Website!Dear Connecticut Psychiatric Society (CPS) Members, Hope and Community: Onward and Upward It is with immense honor to serve as President of the Connecticut Psychiatric Society. I am grateful to our past presidents who have built a solid foundation as we continue to advocate for the needs of our patients and the profession. CPS is a deeply committed organization where diverse experiences and expertise come together as we cultivate a strong community and collaborate with important stakeholders, such as our legislators. The theme I chose for this year is Hope and Community: Onward and Upward. It is important, now more than ever, to instill hope on a microscopic and macroscopic level – for our patients, communities, and our organization. Former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy highlights how the plight of the loneliness epidemic and social isolation plague our society. As psychiatrists, we are in a unique position to help combat it not only for our patients but on a personal level as well. We are stronger together than in isolation. It is my hope that we strive to cultivate strong social connections within our organization and beyond as we work to improve access and advance the mental health needs of our patients. An initiative we have had is the redesigned website to improve connection among members. The website offers a host of resources to learn about upcoming events and take advantage of various networking opportunities. I invite you to take part in this vibrant community as we help shape the future of psychiatry onward and upward. Regards, Jessica Abellard, MD President, Connecticut Psychiatric Society Join UsThe American Psychiatric Association and the Connecticut Psychiatric Society are organizations composed primarily of medical specialists who are qualified, or in the process of becoming qualified, as psychiatrists.
