Administrative Staff

Don Knox serves as executive director of the Connecticut Psychiatric Society, a district branch of the American Psychiatric Association. He has decades of management experience in nonprofits, journalism, and software, and he also is executive director of the American Association for Emergency Psychiatry, an APA-affiliated organization. 

Sonja Hix, CPS' Deputy Director, has served in staff leadership positions for a number of nonprofits since 2007. She specializes in governance, membership, and operational issues. 

Kelly Torres, CPS' Membership Specialist, has worked as a nonprofit campaign and event coordinator, a communications director, a public information specialist, and a social media manager. As CPS' membership specialist, she coordinates association communications and answers member support questions. 

Susan Nolte, Finance Director, provides CPS with corporate-quality accounting. She has nearly 25 years of experience in managing nonprofit finances and is herself a volunteer leader for a nonprofit. 

Mary Fitzgerald, CPS' Conference Director, is a Boston-area native with more than 15 years of experience planning meetings and trade shows for organizations based in Denver, San Diego, and Washington, D.C. Mary has a BA in English with an emphasis in Communications from Salve Regina University, Newport, Rhode Island.
